Current Challenges in the LTL and FTL Markets

This past year has been crazy for the LTL and Truckload shipping markets. The brokers and carriers we work with have been doing fantastic at keeping our rates stable. However, while we hope that continues, we are advised that the markets are just getting busier, and capacity is not becoming any more available. Just this week, FedEx dropped 1,400 large volume customers, leaving compies that supply customers like Lowe's and Home Depot to look for other carriers to get their goods delivered(source).

We hear capacity issues from all of our carriers, making it challenging to arrange shipments to certain areas. These issues have been created from a perfect storm of a lack of drivers and dock workers plus a considerable increase in goods to be transported. Sadly, all of this means that rates and delivery times could increase considerably over the coming weeks and months.

Here at GB Fabrication, we will continue to keep up with the latest on the LTL and FTL markets and work with our brokers to keep freight prices and delivery times as low as possible. We are also working directly with local and national freight companies to develop new shipping options to keep our prices low. If you have any preferred carriers, let us know! We'd love to reach out to them to see if there is any way we may be able to work together.

Please contact us with any questions!

Thanks,
GB Fabrication
